Fresh Local Food is the combined effort of biodynamic farmer and CSA operator Allan Balliett and Marsha Weiner.

Allan and his family have been farming in the Virginia /West Virginia area for over 15 years, bringing biodynamic fruits, vegetables, meats and flowers to the greater Washington DC metro area.  Allan also distributes his vast knowledge of the issues related to local,  national and global agriculture by hosting various film and discussion events in his  hometown of Shepartstown, West Virginia. Always on the leading edge – he is a respected teacher in the region.

An enthusiast about food, agriculture and role of each in culture, Marsha uses this blog to keep in touch with the people she got to know while in a leadership position with Slow Food. She writes about food and film for CHoW (culinary historians of Washington) and maintains Cornucopia Collection – a blog that features books and activities to interest young children in all aspects of food. The blog has gotten national recognition and is visited by many parents, teachers and grandparents. You can visit that blog here:

Her current focus is on the needs of older adults – especially the 8+ million older adults who daily have to choose between food and medicine.
